Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the HanziForge web application at hanziforge.com, operated by HanziForge ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using HanziForge, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Account Registration

To use HanziForge, you must create an account using a valid email address or Google sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

2. Subscription and Billing

HanziForge offers a free tier with limited daily AI generations (5 per day) and paid Imperial Pro plans:

• Imperial Pro Monthly: $9.99 per month
• Imperial Pro 6-Month: $49.99 every 6 months ($8.33/month)

Auto-Renewal: Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged using the payment method on file with Stripe.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe customer portal, accessible from your Account Settings. Upon cancellation, you retain access to Imperial Pro features until the end of your current billing period.

Price Changes: We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days written notice. Price changes take effect at the start of your next billing period after the notice.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Abuse, exploit, or misuse AI-powered features, including but not limited to automated requests, circumventing usage limits, or using generated content for purposes unrelated to language learning
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data or content from HanziForge
• Share your account credentials with others or allow unauthorized access
• Use HanziForge to transmit harmful, illegal, or offensive content
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the application

4. Intellectual Property

The HanziForge application, including its design, code, branding, and original content, is owned by HanziForge and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your study data (vocabulary lists, notes, etc.) remains yours.

AI-generated content provided through HanziForge (such as vocabulary sentences, grammar explanations, and practice exercises) is provided for your personal educational use. You may not redistribute or commercially exploit AI-generated content at scale.

5. Limitation of Liability

HanziForge is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or the accuracy of AI-generated learning content.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HanziForge shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service.

6. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to other users or the service. You may delete your account at any time from the Account Settings page.

Upon termination, your right to use HanziForge ceases immediately. If you have an active paid subscription, please refer to our Refund Policy for details on eligibility.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of HanziForge will be resolved in accordance with applicable law.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the application. Continued use of HanziForge after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
