Frequently Asked Questions

What does the free trial include?
Everything, with unlimited AI-powered practice, for 14 days. No card is needed. After that the free tier keeps every tool and allows 5 AI sessions a day; Imperial Pro removes the limit and adds natural-voice audio.
Where do my words come from?
From you. Add words from the Reader, import an HSK level or a pasted list under Vocab → Import, or type them in. Every tool — flashcards, Grammar Forge, the Writing Studio, the Handwriting Desk — works from that one deck.
I imported hundreds of words and now I have a wall of cards.
Imported words wait in your deck as New and join your daily study a few a day, at the pace you set on your Account page under New words per day; once you are caught up, the dashboard's Today card offers up to ten more new words whenever you ask. If reviews still build up — after a break, say — today's study gives you a day's share and spreads the rest across the coming days, and the dashboard tells you how many before you start. A smaller backlog can be spread the same way with Ease me back in.
What is the difference between recognition and recall cards?
Recognition shows the hanzi and asks for the meaning. Recall shows the meaning and asks you to type the hanzi. Mixed mode picks per card: newer words get recognition, and once you have held a word for about a week it is asked as recall.
How does the review schedule work?
Every answer updates an estimate of how long you will remember that word. Each word is scheduled to come back when you would still get it right about nine times in ten — just before it is likely to slip. Right answers push it further out; a miss usually brings it back a few cards later, in the same session — or in a later session, for example when this one is ending. A word is Mastered when you would likely still remember it a year from now.
How do I practise handwriting?
Mark any sentence you wrote in the Writing Studio for practice, or add words from your deck on the Handwriting Desk. Watch the stroke order, trace it with every stroke graded, then write it from memory. Characters you can write get their own review schedule, and the printable sheet works away from the screen.
I'm a teacher. How do I see my students' progress?
On your Account page, turn on teacher tools and create a class code. Students enter it under Join a Class. Your dashboard then shows the roster, lets you assign readings and vocabulary sets with reminders, and reports class analytics.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
From your Account page. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the billing period; plan changes are prorated. Refund windows are in the refund policy.
